Last month, I on a trip to Disneyland Paris for my best friend’s 40th birthday. She asked me to book this trip for her a year ago (time has flown in!) so we were able to get a really great price for 7 of us – Claire, her 2 friends, her mum, dad, brother and sister – to stay at Disney Hotel New York- the Art of Marvel.
A little more about the hotel later… but first a little side note here about me and the bestie Claire.

We spend a good chunk of our down time from work sending each other TikToks about Disney snacks we want to try, merch that we would like to buy (hey that rhymed!) – and no, it doesn’t matter if they might be in Disneyland California or Tokyo Disney and we have no way of getting them, it’s just nice to look at them!
We are both big Ariel fans, I have a very fond love of Donald Duck and anything The Emperor’s New Groove and for Claire, I would say Tangled and A Nightmare Before Christmas! We are both fond of a Disney princess and sidekick too! But really, we love it all!
We are also fans of many other things, which is how we met in the first place, but that’s a story for another time!
We are definitely certified Disney adults. We’ve been on many a Disney trip together, most recently a Disney cruise, so, Claire choosing a Disney destination for her 40th was a no-brainer!

For this trip, we flew from Belfast International to Charles de Gaulle and then took the Magical Shuttle coach from the airport. This is an optional add-on when booking Disneyland Paris with me. I can also provide private airport transfers if preferred, but we were looking to do this as best value as possible – probably because we knew we would need the money for merchandise once we got there!! And the Magical Shuttle is a pretty reliable service that takes you right to the hotel door, so it was all good.
Once we were checked in, we were able to access one of our two rooms, so we dropped off our cases and headed straight to get some food. It was chilly! And weirdly foggy all of a sudden. That hadn’t been on the forecast?! And it was giving everything a mysterious glow!!
For our trip, we had added on the Half Board Plus meal plan at the booking stage – this gives breakfast every day, and either lunch/dinner per person per night. The Disneyland Paris meal plans are great value for money.
We had dinner already booked so we made our way to Earl of Sandwich for lunch.
A delicious hot sandwich, drink and crisps for $14.50 was not bad! (They also do a really nice cooked breakfast here as well) then into the parks for a bit.
It was quite busy in the Parks for a Monday afternoon, and we split off into two groups. Three of us went to take on some of the thrill rides and the other four (including me) went for a more leisurely wander. We hit the Mad Hatter’s Tea Cups and a group favourite “it’s a small world.”
IMPORTANT NOTE: 4 adults do NOT fit on one boat row on this ride! Hilarity ensued!

There was also time, of course, to pop into some of the shops on Main Street and see what we might spend some of our hard-saved money on later in the trip. However, as we’d all had a very early start that morning, we didn’t hang around for too long before heading back to the hotel to unpack, nap (well I did!) and get ready for our dinner in the gorgeous Manhattan restaurant in our hotel.
TIP: Usually if you see something on a Disney trip it’s best to get it there and then in case it sells out.
THRIFTY TIP: If you are umming and aaah-ing about an item, then DO leave it until later in your trip. If it’s still there when you come back for it, then you were meant to have it!

A little more info about Disney Hotel New York – the Art of Marvel. This 4* hotel reopened in 2021 after a huge refurbishment with Marvel theming and is now not only a hotel, but also an art gallery, housing more than 300 pieces of Marvel art.
This art includes its chillhop soundtrack, which is all pretty funky versions of the Marvel superhero themes. These can be heard pretty much everywhere throughout the building and grounds, but somehow never seem to get annoying!
TIP: One of the things you can do at this hotel is to book a tour of the art with an Art Guardian. My daughter and I did this on our first trip and even she found it interesting. I brought several prints home!

If you are a Marvel fan, you might want to stay here, but really this is a very cool hotel with lots going for it! It is only a very short walk through Disney Village to the entrance to the Parks and, as with all Disneyland Paris hotels, guests staying here get Extra Magic Hours – meaning you can get in an hour before any non-Disney hotel guests.
I had booked two Superior rooms, each with two queen beds. We were 4 adults in one room and 3 in the other and we were all quite comfortable in these rooms, even with sharing the beds, but if you need some extra space, there are suites too!

Each room had complimentary bottles of water which were replenished as well as tea and coffee with a pod coffee machine. Beds were very comfortable too and there are plenty of USB ports, as well as (European) sockets.
The Manhattan Restaurant is one of two restaurants on the property – the other is the Downtown Restaurant which is a buffet restaurant with cuisine from all over the world.
And so, to dinner…
Absolutely delicious Italian food, and all under this magnificent chandelier inspired by Asgard! Wow! I would say more but this absolutely sums it up! The cast members (if you’ve not been to Disney before, this is what the staff are called) were all very good. Disney service for me has always been pretty top notch!

I forgot to take any pictures after my extremely creamy and scrumptious burrata starter, as I was too busy stuffing my face! but I also had chicken saltimbocca and then tiramisu for dessert. These were all included on the Meal Plan.
Drinks are not included on the meal plan here but soft drinks are around 6 euros and a bottle of wine around 30 euro.
Here’s my burrata starter for your viewing pleasure though !!

After dinner we all went to bed as it had been a pretty long day and we were going to be making the most of Disneyland Paris’ Extra Magic Hours the next morning!
Come back next week for a sneak peek into the only 5* hotel in any Disney Park in the WORLD and to find out about the Royal Banquet character dining experience inside that hotel.
